The upcoming fourth season of Miley Cyrus' hit television series, Hannah Montana, will be its last. The news, first reported by the New York Post, has been confirmed by a rep for Disney.

"You never know in this business . . . but right now, we're scheduled to wrap after shooting this new batch of episodes," said Adam Bonnett, the Disney Channel's programming executive.

Bonnett offered some comfort to fans of the show, however, adding that "the (new) episodes will continue to roll out at least over a full year."

Cyrus has decided to leave the show, telling Harper's Bazaar magazine that she is trying to seek out more mature roles.

"It's one of the things she's been wrestling with for months - whether it's time to make a decision to continue being Hannah Montana or just be a regular, ordinary girl," Bonnett told MTV News.

Production of the fourth and last season of Hannah Montana is set to begin January 18 and end sometime over the summer, the New York Post reports.
