Kellie Pickler is featured in this month's issue of Shape magazine, sharing some of her health and fitness secrets. The singer says that adding healthier foods to her diet has boosted her energy levels and overall health.

"About a year and a half ago, I cleaned up my diet, becoming a vegetarian and replacing the junk I was eating with whole foods, like raw veggies, nuts, and edamame," she says. "My energy shot way up!"

The "Red High Heels" singer has also made a New Year's resolution to work out more and eat less of her favorite food - cheese - which she says would otherwise be the death of her.

"I am now going to turn my treadmill into a treadmill instead of a clothes rack," she told a radio station.

Pickler insists, however, that taking care of herself isn't just about diet and exercise. The singer says that finding time to relax and enjoy life is critical to staying in top mental health.

"I have to make sure I let loose with my girlfriends every now and then-even when I'm on tour," she added. "Surrounding myself with people who inspire me helps me to be a happier, more confident person."
