Taylor Swift, Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood and Miley Cyrus were among the winners at Wednesday's 36th annual People's Choice Awards. The event was held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles and was broadcast on CBS.

Swift took home the award for favorite female artist, her first People's Choice Award. The 20-year-old beat out Britney Spears, Underwood, Pink and Beyoncé to take home the top honor.

"Thank you. What a beautiful, beautiful way to start out a new decade," the country cutie said to a standing ovation.

Underwood went home with the award for favorite country artist, which both Swift and Urban were also nominated for, along with Rascal Flatts and Brad Paisley. Urban was given the People's Choice Award for favorite male artist, winning over Eminem, Jason Mraz, John Mayer and Tim McGraw.

Cyrus was honored as the favorite breakout movie actress, beating out Anna Kendrick, Emily Osment, Ginnifer Goodwin and Zoe Saldana.
