Two Dixie Chicks To Release New Music

The Dixie Chicks, minus lead singer Natalie Maines, are reportedly going to release new music sometime this year. Sisters Martie Maguire and Emily Robison will release an album through the Chick's home label, Columbia Records.

A publicist for the Dixie Chicks confirmed the news but did not provide any details on the album's release date or title.

Natalie's father, Lloyd Maines, who co-produced the Chicks' 2002 album Home, told CMT.com that the sisters are "cutting some demos" and also mentioned that Natalie had recorded "a little something with them . . . about a year ago."

"I know that Martie's doing a fiddle record on her own and that Emily has been demoing some of her [own] songs . . . But they're definitely still an entity," he added.

The Dixie Chicks won 13 Grammys and were named the CMA entertainer of the year in 2000. They released their last album, Taking the Long Way, in 2006, which earned the girls 5 Grammys including album of the year in February 2007.
